Secondhand market platform for transfer efficiently in the city

 
 

Project Overview


 

When I was a student at university, I found many people are renters in cities which means they wouldn’t have enough space to store stuff and would be moving frequently. The most ‘inconvenient thing to deal with is giving away old stuff. Cause of the inconvenience, people are throwing their old belongings into the garbage can which causes unnecessary waste.

Is there any service that can help renters transfer goods easily to others who need?

 
 

Sparkle brand value


 

Sparkle offers young renters join to the secondhand market, replacing the perception of second-hand platforms as a place to discard unwanted items, we aim to enhance the user experience in the second-hand market through several design improvements. Differing from other platforms, Sparkle believes in the trust value among second-hand platform users, fostering a win-win proposition.

Clarify and summarize users’ needs, time rewards, and user-friendliness.


 

Clearing away old stuff is closely related to the concept of sustainable shopping. So I decided to invite someone who has experience in using secondhand trade(including 4 sellers and 2 clients ) to participate in a user interview and find their true pain point and opportunity.

 

Findings in interview

Sellers

  • Users tend to not consume a lot of mental and physical strength to launch the product. So they would like to have a guide to help them finish the task.

  • As most users are not professional sellers, so they are always curious about what kind of information our clients care about. This constraint may lead to an information gap, which means clients are less willing to buy.

Clients

  • Clients would like to know the product’s real condition to help them create a sense of trust in trade.

  • In clients’ experiences, if they can look for advice in the community they would feel secure.

  • Clients would like to have flexible delivery methods, especially for shipping furniture.

 
 

Opportunity


 

I come out with two main solutions:

  • How can we reduce the information gap between buyers and sellers?

  • How can we help buyers build trust in purchasing products?

 

Design Details

 

Add tag(product detail) on the photo


 
  • During the process of listing products, we offer tagging feature, where sellers can simply click on the photo to add descriptions(tag).

  • Sellers can add more detail through photos, thus saving them from having to spend a lot of time thinking about what to write in the product description below.
